No, that's really not the name of our Book Club! We actually just refer to it as it is...Book Club. Over the past 2 and 1/2 years it has been an incredible way to build friendships, read stories and share some of our own in the process! We are different in so many ways...age, backgrounds, life stages, careers. One of our members commented last year that our gathering reminds her of "The View" on television. HA! I think each of us in the group originally only knew 1 or 2 of the others at the time we started.
Though we are different, we are also the same...each of us mothers and wives and simply women that like to read and then discuss the themes, characters, plots and impact of the stories.
Our club is pretty simple.
We meet on the last Tuesday of each month at my house from 7 pm - 8:30 pm. We visit with each other and eat for about 45 minutes, then the discussion leader for that month's book throws out questions for us to discuss. I admit, we do get off track sometimes with book discussion, but we do try to stay on topic! I think it has become a little harder simply because we all know each other better. (and true life stories are the best, aren't they?)
This month we read The Invisible Wall by Harry Bernstein. I'd have to say it was one of my favorites. We each submit our ideas/choices in December for the following year.
