paper peonies

I got into this seriously crafty mood last week. I'm just lovin' this wet cool wonderful rainy weather! But it just doubles up my desire to create. Pinterest is seriously going to be a big problem for me. I had fun making coffee filter flowers today. This is my first attempt...needs a little more cutting and shaping...but can't wait to see what they look like in white.

Supplies:

6-7 coffee filters

floral wire

a little glue

floral tape

This has been such a fun week...hanging out in Denver with my friend, Michelle, and catching up with Patsy and Char and Janet. Just something to be said about girlfriends, right? 

Michelle is my crafty friend. She showed me how to make t shirt yarn.

 Oh, the places I'll go with t shirt yarn!

Can't believe how many old t shirts I just took up to Goodwill 2 weeks ago. Ugghhh. Could have made pounds and pounds of yarn.

Michelle made all these cute little satin flowers for her Bible study leaders to wear as 'identification' for the leaders...I think they would be cute pinned in so many ways to hats, t shirts, headbands....clips for hairbows or pony tail holders...etc. etc.

 These (above) are slightly different in pattern. I told her they were my favorites.
Then she showed me how to make a little headband from the arm of an old gray t shirt. This will make it into someone's stocking! Shhhhh.

HEB apple filler idea

saw this idea of filling a vase with apples at HEB earlier this week and loved it. I usually do cranberries as fillers...but loved the statement this makes on a different scale. 

Fill your vase with as many apples that it can hold. Add water and flowers. They had a very tall vase that was at least 2 feet tall...very cool. Those tall vases would make great centerpieces for those large round tables at weddings or events and a bag of apples put me out about $2.50!
