The best is yet to come!

I have thoroughly enjoyed each stage of my life, but I've got to say that these mid-life years are really, really nice. Thanks for stopping by to check on this Austin Nana. I like the real thing, though, so come on! Drop by for a coffee date with me sometime soon.

Thing One and Thing 2

Thing One and Thing Two

2 Ingredient muffins...or cupcakes or whatever YOU want to call them. YES...only 2 things you gotta have in your kitchen. A boxed cake mix and a can of pumpkin.  Got this idea off of Pinterest last week and just had to try it out on my poor Book Club gals last night. Thumbs up all around the table.

These actually had 3 ingredients. I added a small bag of mixed chocolate and peanut butter chips to the Devil's Food cake mix and 1 can of Pumpkin. That's it. Stir it all together, put into muffin tins and bake as directed on side of boxed mix for cupcakes. You cOuLD add all KiNds of stuff...like more nuts. But that gets a little more complicated, doesn't it?

You don't taste the pumpkin at all. However, you can mix up the cake mixes for a different flavor, like spice cake or yellow cake mix. I may try to add some cranberries and orange zest to see how those turn out (yum, with either chocolate OR spice cake mix!)

reset button

This year has been especially busy.

It has all been good. Mostly.  Just different.

Every once in a while I just need a place to 'run away'. Do you ever feel that way?

My favorite run away place happens to be a place in the woods.

with my best friend, of course.

I needed to get 'reset'...kinda like that alarm was going off in the show, "LOST"....

Where am I going?

Admit, I am a bit unsure of that...but I DO think Toms shoes will be taking my feet down the path. First time to try these out and LOVE them. Anyone else crazy about Toms?

Getting the 'skinny'...

I'm determined to 'clean out' a bunch of stuff in our home this fall. We are really, really going to get new floors and Mr. Floor Store Guy told me that though the tile and carpet installers would move all my furniture, they are not going to move all my knick knacks and books and lamps and 'decorative' items (ha!).

I decided that the floors will have to wait until after January 1, because as I have been boxing up and giving away about 1/2 of my 'decorative' items, I realized that I have about 10 green crates up in the attic with MORE decorative items. Call it Christmas in a box....ah hem...boxes. Last year our skinny artificial tree from Garden Ridge just had to call it quits. So this year I actually considered NOT getting a tree for about 5 minutes.

I compromised and went for an even 'skinnier' tree! About 6.5 feet tall and no lights. and very, very skinny. It was on sale for $40 last night at Target. Snapped that boxed Christmas tree right up.  Gosh, it's so skinny and so cheap, I may go back and get another one.
