The best is yet to come!

I have thoroughly enjoyed each stage of my life, but I've got to say that these mid-life years are really, really nice. Thanks for stopping by to check on this Austin Nana. I like the real thing, though, so come on! Drop by for a coffee date with me sometime soon.

nesting in January...

It's that time of year...when I feel especially 'nesty'. Tamera had one request for her college graduation (2 years ago, now) Has it been that long? She wanted the dining room table set that belonged to Wm's grandparents and was passed down to us when we got married. So, it's pretty old. Lots of family meals around that table. Hopefully, most of them were pretty good meals...or Tamera wouldn't want this table.  Anyway, she didn't get it right away. Partly because there was no room in her apartment at that time. She moved last weekend to a new apartment that has a dining room. We parted with the old, old table (keeping the hutch for now). Went to World Market and got a good deal on this one. I love it. Inexpensive. Square. Sides fold down. Storage underneath. We can even get 6 people around it pretty comfortably if we had to. It's also counter height.

William liked the swivel stools that were also at World Market. They fit nicely under our kitchen countertop. Not loving those green walls. New tile to be installed in about 2 weeks! Need curtains, I know. Welcome any suggestions for what kind of curtains to put in here. I think I'd like some simple 'cafe' style pottery barnish type curtains. Not too crazy about long curtains in the kitchen, but I don't like just a valance either.

So, after getting that table set up, I was all inspired to clean out my fabric basket which sits just to the right of the table. I didn't part with one piece of fabric. I still love it all. I just can't decide what to do with it. Can you tell I like RED? Hmmm. If I had enough of any one piece, maybe I COULD make some cafe curtains?

The highlight so far this week was having Annie and Meg come over to help me make some granola. I decided it was time to stop 'pinning' recipes and start making food. This turned out well. It would be great as a cereal or a crunchy topping on top of yogurt. The second batch I like a little better. Added some sunflower seeds, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom. YUM. Smells like Christmas all over again.

Annie liked hers mixed with applesauce. Meg liked the raisins. It's cold here today. Windy. Cedar pollen blowing around like crazy. Good day to stay home and smell granola cooking in your oven.
