The best is yet to come!

I have thoroughly enjoyed each stage of my life, but I've got to say that these mid-life years are really, really nice. Thanks for stopping by to check on this Austin Nana. I like the real thing, though, so come on! Drop by for a coffee date with me sometime soon.

just stuff

I read a couple of blogs tonight of a friend and her daughter's about random musings going on in their lives. Love these kind of posts. Here's my attempt.

I've been feeling old, lately. Just stiff in places I never have before. It seemed to happen really fast, over about 3 months. Even when I go for a walk, my legs don't seem to 'flow'. Do you know what I mean...just kind of like they don't really know what the heck I'm trying to do with them.

Spring is really my favorite time of year, except for days like today that are so MUGGY. It's not really warm enough to turn the AC down, but everything just feels so hooooooooootttttt. I have to shower in one bathroom, then go to the other bathroom to blowdry my hair and straighten it, then since that bathroom is now hot, I hurry back to the first bathroom (hoping it will have cooled off a little from my semi warm shower) to put on my makeup.

I used to be able to get ready (from shower to ready to go) in 30 minutes flat. The routine I've had to adapt to (mentioned above) has seriously added 8 minutes.

I'm really glad that Tamera likes to cook. She and I trade off weeks cooking freezer meals. She gets the short end of the stick every time. I hope that she doesn't really notice for a while. Her Dad gets very excited about dinner time when I pull out one of 'Tamera's meals'.

Mexican food just doesn't do it for me any more. I'm kind of worried about that. Not sure what food I really like except chocolate.  Oh, and coffee.

I absolutely love being Nana. I used to think maybe something was wrong with me (and Wm actually) because we really kind of lost it when we became grandparents. I did not remember either one of our parents becoming quite so... well...like us. THEN, a few of our friends became grandparents. There are lots of us out there. It just is so fun to have them run up to you whether it's been a week, a day or MONTHS with this big smile on their sweet little faces and saying NANA!!!
Beyond fun.

I love them, but I probably won't go to 6 Flags with them. yuk. Just the thought makes me want to crawl between cool sheets and curl up and go to sleep.

My boy turns 30 tomorrow. I was just remembering when I told his Dad I was pregnant (his sister was about 6 months old at the time). Seems like yesterday. I miss him. I want him to come HOME. I want him to BE where he is supposed to be...such conflicting emotions. Happy Birthday. I sure do love you.

Grandbaby boy is due any time. It would be so cool if he was born on my birthday, but I just can't wait to see him. Who will he look like? Will he be as chubby as his sisters were? Rolls and rolls of deliciousness? I kinda think this one will have a 'laid' back personality...but shhhhh.

Small group has been better than I thought it would be lately. We are doing "Love and Respect" small group videos. About the time you think you may have it all together (33 years this year) you realize a. you don't     b. you just thought you did       c. people can change     d. it's nice to have a few friends who are willing to share their struggles

This year my 'word' is 'see'.

I've been getting to know a group of widows in my church. About 4 of them pretty well. They are the bravest women I know. Makes me hug you know who a little tighter every night...and whisper 'thank you, Jesus' in the morning.

I'm looking forward to a trip in October to Australia. I'm sure we will see some exciting animals, but I'm most looking forward to just being with P, K, T and G.

I cannot believe it's been almost a year since Max and Tamera's wedding.

I cannot believe that Annie starts Kindergarten next fall.

I love Target.

I had fun there last week. I don't go shopping very much anymore at Target for 'fun'. But last week, let's just say...I had fun. I came away with those skinny hangers I've been reading about for months, 2 pillows for the patio, a ton of birthday cards (I'm determined to get half as good as my sister in law about sending cards) and some ORANGE plates for Meg. PLUS I had a mocha light frap. Kept me up all night.

Ok, guess that's enough for now. whewww. that was kind of fun.

  2. This just made me laugh...too funny. I wish you could have seen me the other night when I got to keep Joshua for the first time...I did a happy dance in the front yard like a little girl does over getting a new favorite item.
Getting older...well the hot flashes right now are getting to me....LOL, let's not talk about it.
